Soooo... ah... ya.... hey again?
Haha, its been an exciting four months for us since launch and we're so excited to share Air 2.0! A major thanks to @_jacksmith for hunting us--we're thrilled to be on Product Hunt again š and love this community.
More videos are created today than ever before, but existing solutions don't support a constantly growing library of clips. Air 2.0 is a cloud storage solution thoughtfully designed to support your need to continuously create video. Just press record, and we'll take care of the rest!
I think about Air 1.0 in the same way I think about Tyler Strand 1.0 (my cofounder in this tale):
https://www.flickr.com/photos/66...
- A little rough around the edges
- Smart and ambitious, but without much gusto
- Thoughtful, but still trying to find his footing
Air 2.0, like Tyler Strand 2.0, is a fresh new mix of Pierce Brosnan meets Daniel Craig:

- Refined & Quick
- Confident & Stable
- Detail oriented!
Hahaha, @_tydalwave_ is going to kill me... ANYWAY, since launch we've had amazing progress!
- Today we're storing more than 1M min. of video on Air!
- Our Top 10% of users on average captured 60 min. of video in their first month
- By month 3, our average active user created more than 21 clips
Given these successes, we put our heads down and drove toward expanding our features to address the wealth of inbound feedback. On Air 2.0 you can record through your phone, drag and drop files from your desktop, migrate videos from other storage solutions, or even mail in hard drives with old footage. Your library is more extensible than ever and the underlying technology that supports it has continued to grow in its speed and efficiency.
Specifically, Air 2.0 includes:
- New subscription options so that you can migrate in videos from sources other than your phone
- One click batch importing from Dropbox, desktop, and [iCloud: soon to come!]
- Camera Roll importing for existing clips
- Dynamic synchronization which improves upload time
- An activity tab to track the videos you've recently watched
- A redesign to improve management, discovery, and organization
- Exporting tools to move your videos from Air to your camera roll, desktop, or tablet
Today, we finally feel like Air is living up to our vision of becoming your personal video library. In honor of the launch we have an exclusive discount for Product Hunt supporters so click on our linked site above to gain access!
Again, we can't tell you how much we appreciate the well wishes and feel free to comment below with any feedback. Our whole team is hanging around to answer questions so that we can learn from you and make Air even better!
Take care,
Shane
Thanks @abadesi! We tried to keep our design system really light. Check out our website for more looks! @darrenhoyt art directed the whole project and will jump in with some thoughts on how we got here.
At a glance you might think iCloud/Dropbox/Google Photos is the same but it's quickly clear just how much better this is. It feels so much smoother to capture with Air than anything else. All I have to do is shoot what I want to shoot and I never have to think about storage again.
The subtle thing that also comes thru is that the app isn't just video first, it's privacy first. When I want to share something it's straightforward and easy and the quality feels like they're watching straight off my phone. But it only shares if I choose to share it. Otherwise the video is purely mine.
Glad to have discovered Air and think the app is pretty cool! Since Air is storing peopleās personal videos, how are you guys addressing privacy concerns in the age of GDPR and data privacy missteps?
I bought a 128GB iPhone thinking it would provide the infinite-storage experience I was looking for. 5 months later, I realized I was wrong. I'm stoked about Air.
Pros:
All the perks of a Google Pixel without having to own a Google Pixel. I dig it.
Super slick user experience. Fair price.. thinking of moving all my videos of to Air to clear up space.. even if I have 256 GB of storage, there will never be enough.
