Very cool idea. Will give it a try with my team. Have you tried using this at larger networking events? And tailor the "office" to the event?
Jared T
@maths_mathisen Thanks Maths. You can invite visitors into your space like we did for our ProductHunt launch, although we haven't designed the experience for lots of visitors simultaneously (eg 100+).

I love how low-key it is to pop over and say hi to office mates. Also, the plants! πŸ₯Ί What elements of the office do you imagine will be customizable?
Jared T
@trubrian Thanks so much Brian! πŸ™β€οΈ I think we could do a lot with the office space. The furniture could be swapped out, desks upgraded, floor tiles and walls could be swapped out, even the "island" layout could become something very different thematically like an Avatar bioluminescence environment, or a campground with a campfire instead of a conference room. Always looking for inspiration and ideas 🎨

@jared_t That's amazing! Can't wait to play around and edit our future Agave office. Great job on the product! It looks ready to move in already :)
Jared T
@trubrian Excited to get y'all moved in ❀️

Adorable and funny! This product just made my day! I am looking forward for extension where I could have a pet like one yellow squirrel that wish not to be kept in a red and white ball and zaps other pets with lightnings!
Mateusz ZarΓ³d
@jan_mazurek yeah, i was thinking about the same, you would get points depending on tasks delivered with 1 sprint ;)
Mateusz ZarΓ³d
This is dope! Is it suitable for chats or video conferences only? Does it involve other forms of communication? How about group chats? My every teamt has always "meme" chat or "what do we eat today" chat.
Jared T
@mateusz_zarod Thanks Mateusz! We currently support video, audio, and screensharing. Plans to add chat sometime soon.
Anvisha Pai
our team has been using Agave! It's the first video call tool that I've used that's truly fun and delightful :) Congrats to the team on this launch can't wait to see where it goes from here.
Jared T
@anvishapai Thanks Anvisha! πŸ™

@jared_t Tried and Loved the product. Very interesting how you allow guests to visits. And I totally see all the use cases in action for my company. Currently, we are a team of 3 but would love to use this for our hiring drive in the coming months. All the best to you and your team. Just FYI - My domain is bot.space and your demo doesn't accept my email address.
Jared T
@bilal_chaglani Hey Bilal, thanks for the feedback. We'll get that email address issue fixed and I'll reach out to you to get your team setup.

Hi everyone πŸ‘‹ We've been working on something over the past 6 months and we're ready to share it with you! Lots of great things were lost in the transition towards remote work, and having informal conversations is one of them. So we made it easy to have informal conversations with a lightweight desktop app where each person has their own desk, and the way you start a call is you just walk up to their desk and the video turns on. No Zoom links to share and no agendas, you can just walk up and start a conversation as if you were in the same room with someone. What are some example use cases? πŸ’Ό Bring job candidates in for interviews. You can now walk them by someone else's desk and start up quick video conversations, so things like introductions can happen again. πŸ—£ Talk to your customers. Your team is able to listen in on conversations as if they were a Clubhouse channel, as long as the conversation is not marked private. This is helpful for sharing customer insights in real-time with the rest of your team. πŸ‘‹ Onboard a new employee. It's easy for them to call and meet other folks on your team. πŸ’Έ Raise money from investors. There's something viscerally exciting about seeing a team working together in real-time and executing, rather than see a static slide in your deck. Who did we build this for? We built something for ourselves that we'd want to use every day while we're working. We didn't want something that was always-on. We wanted it to be performant. We wanted it to balance privacy with convenience. We wanted high-quality video. We also wanted a way to invite friends or visitors into this experience and do something like drive-by introductions (this just doesn't happen on Zoom). We're working with some YC companies and we think this is great for cofounders, small product and eng teams within bigger companies, product managers, engineers, designers, and anyone who wants some amount of informal conversation and synchronous collaboration during their workday. How are we different? πŸ–₯ We're a desktop app. We're friendly with your CPU and battery (or we try to be). The reason we chose desktop is to share your active app with teammates so they know (roughly) if it's a good time to walk up and start a conversation. We didn't want to be buried somewhere in browser tabs. If you invite visitors into your own office, they don't need to download anything and they can just use their browser. πŸ€— We're fun. We've focused on making this feel more like a game. We think this helps make informal conversations easier, compared to Zoom where it feels more transactional and business-oriented. πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨ We take a skeuomorphic approach. Everything we've done has been inspired by real-world office interactions, to the degree it makes sense and is convenient. Examples of this: listening in on conversations in real-time, walking up and talking to someone, and waving to get someone's attention. Want to try it out? Stop by our office for a live demo. We'll give you a visitor key when we see you enter the lobby. This will give you access to walk around and talk to us. For calls to connect, you should walk up next to one of us and stand on the closest rug (these are at our desks, the conference room, visitor lobby, and lunch table). Want your own? Drop a comment here. I'd love to hear what you think and answer any questions! πŸ™

From the console: "It looks like you're using the development build of the Firebase JS SDK. When deploying Firebase apps to production, it is advisable to only import the individual SDK components you intend to use."
Jared T
@fabian_mossberg Thanks for sharing this πŸ™ We'll get that fixed.

I think virtual words make a lot of sense for sense. You should think about partnering with a company like Lucky Carrot to add a collaborative purpose to using your world.

I seem to he having a bit of a problem on selecting the right Camera, Mic, and Output device. I have them all defaulted in the browser, but in the app, I think it just picks the first one in the list? I'm just creeping over here in your office though, so don't mind me.
Jared T
@thejustinwalsh Hi Justin, feel free to lurk - it's an open house all day for us and we appreciate the company. Thanks for the feedback, we have a camera + mic selector on our roadmap. You should be able to adjust at your OS level and then refresh the app.
Justin Walsh
@jared_t Awesome, thanks! I have this issue on that PC with many other browser based apps that want access to my mic and camera. Glad I was able to get in and get it working on the trusty ol' Mac.

We've been using Agave through most of the pandemic. Because of it, we still keep up those magical spontaneous brainstorming sessions that are the lifeblood of every startup product strategy. So grateful it exists!
Jared T
@james_evans2 Thanks James! πŸ™

Nice job ! you should check a similar open source project named workadventure it's pretty cool and has features that are interesting, we use it now for 4 months and pretty happy with it, because we can have custom maps, but what we dislike is the performances of it.
Jared T
@d3cima We almost used workadventure when we started out. Performance aside, we didn't like the scrolling nature since it felt slow to jump in and out of interactions.
Jan Mazurek
Oh, may I design office by myslef or every office is the same ?
Jared T
@jan_mazurek For now, everyone starts with the same layout. We plan to add customization soon.

This is very... Interactive. πŸ˜‚ It reminded me of the RPGMaker.
