@joshuapinter thank you for the feedback, Joshua! ❤️ Totally agree with the fact that being cordless is the biggest innovation and that's what we usually lead with on our marketing channels. If you are interested, I went through the details about what makes AER 'smart' and how AI is involved in great detail in a response above, we really try to not use those terms casually however over-used they might be. Again your feedback is appreciated, thanks!
OMG. We're clearly at Peak AI when air dryers claim to have artificial intelligence.
@vverweij thank you for the comment and I take it as a compliment :) Honestly it's totally justifiable to think that, considering all the hair dryers, even the $500 ones on the market. As I tried to explain in my first comment, that's why we thought it's the perfect category to disrupt too.
Just to provide more details, our patented SmartDry™ AI uses 13 built-in heat and humidity sensors to understand how long it usually takes to dry your hair and gradually adapts heat and fan speed as it learns your preferences. So instead of manually adjusting all the settings all the time (like with any other dryer), you simply press 'SmartDry' button and let AER gradually cool down the temperature and adjust the air flow with the perfect settings personalized for you.
AER's also the only dryer out there that pairs with your phone via AER app to periodically download firmware updates in order to improve the device as you continue to use it, similar to a Tesla car.
We even have a 3-axis Accelerometer inside in order to support features like automatic idleness recognition, detecting free fall to safely shutdown and gesture recognition in the future. So yeah we don't use the words 'Smart' and 'AI' casually.
I know even these features and functions are very unexpected for a hair dryer and we didn't even get to the fact that it's cordless thanks to the patented battery technology couple of years ahead of what's currently available to others.

Wow, this looks great! I am really bad at cable management, and my bathroom has been getting crazier with different types of beard and newly acquired hair trimmers due to the virus, and there are the electric toothbrushes. Cordless smart hair dryer? Count me in!
One quick question though, it seems like it's on the bigger side a bit, how much does it weigh actually?

To answer your question, AER Dryer is close to 2 lbs (0.9 kg), which is as heavy as a standard hair dryer, if not lighter.
Actually one of the most common first reactions that we usually get with our prototypes is how unexpectedly light it feels at hand. You can watch some of those first reaction videos by professional hair stylists on our Kickstarter page.

We are so excited to bring AER Dryer into the brave new world of world of Product Hunt. AER's mission is to revolutionize hair dryer technology that hasn't changed much since 1920s and to simply cut the cord.
It's incredible to see fundamentally the same design over and over again for more than 100 years with incremental improvements (looking at some other dryers with a big hole in them 🙄 ) while all the other consumer electronics categories have seen rapid innovation.
We've been hard at work since 2012 to deliver something that we've been told to be simply impossible because "the battery technology just isn't there yet!" - So we developed it ourselves. 🤓
AER Dryer is almost ready for prime time as we are done with RD and moving into mass production as we speak. We are on track to deliver the first batch by the end of this year. To allow our early adopters to support the project, we just launched our Kickstarter on June 2nd and hit our goal under 30 minutes, currently tracking over 300% for day 1. @verabb thanks a lot for the amazing feedback. ❤️ To quickly answer your questions, with a fully-charged AER, you get up to 4 hours of runtime depending on heat settings. SmartDry mode optimizes those settings for you so you get the maximum runtime. Yes, it works corded as well, making it very versatile.
We obviously don't provide too much detail into the battery technology itself since it's the secret sauce, but just to provide some high level stats, we are using our proprietary Silicon Anode Lithium Ion battery technology, which allows us to get 10-16% higher energy density and 2.5 times higher power density compared to Tesla Model 3 2170 cell, making the magic of a high performance cordless hair dryer possible for the first time ever.
@verabb @bulut_sakchak I'm really sorry, it still sounds too good to be true... In the case that it is actually true, the right to the patent (I'm not sure you can patent it though, I'm sure you've dug deep into this topic) would all in itself give you millions, now this might not be you core buissness in the customer side but thst'd give you a BIG push (Something similar to Amazon and AWS).
In other words, having invented a battery which is 10-16% higher in energy density and 2.5 times higher in power density than a state-of-the-art battery, why do you need crowdfunding?

@aguilaair_tech - All good, totally valid points again and you actually hit the nail on the head in terms of our longterm strategy regarding our battery technology, which is really the driving force behind AER. Kickstarter campaign was launched primarily not to raise funds since we are fully funded by our private investors but to give a chance to early adopters and enthusiasts to get their hands first on AER with a nice early bird discount. Actually the main reason why we picked the path of developing the first cordless hair dryer because it's the perfect proof of concept for our battery tech, the lack of which is the reason why someone like Dyson hasn't already done so (and disrupting a mass consumer category that's worth billions never hurts.)

@bulut_sakchak Hey! not sure if you are still replying on PH... However, I was thinking if you could inform us a bit about the durability and eco-friendliness of your battery tech. How does it compare to tipical Li-ion and LiPo batteries?
Looks very elegant! I travel a lot and I’m tired of carrying all of my hair tools everywhere, this would actually help me get rid of the cables at least. Just wondering, can I style my hair with this? I mean can I use a hair brush with it to blow out my hair? Is it strong enough to style hair?
