@jameswahba Hi James. The Actions app provides an all-in-one solution for task automation. It allows you to perform many of the tasks you want, in one app. This saves you a lot time, as you don't have to keep on switching between multiple applications. I am also working on adding third party hardware support, so you can automate tech gadgets round your house, view car stats (if you have a car OBD reader), etc...
I've always been interested in apps like this that automate things. However, every time I try something like this I find myself going back to my old ways after several days. The issue is with mobile devices, everything I do is so nuanced and kinda different every time. Even for monotonous tasks, they don't require more than two or three taps and keeping track becomes more of a chore. Great looking app, though! I'll give it a try.
@davidsfeng I think the use case for apps like this and Workflow comes in finding one or more select things that you can automate. I am have productivity OCD and can rarely find more than a couple things I can automate.
The other user that loves apps like these are the folks who have ditched their laptops and need to add functionality to iPad to make it more computer like with Pythonista, etc..
@davidsfeng Hi David. Thats a very good point, there are times were we just can't automate everything. I believe this is due to customisation requirements, as people need to sending specific messages, or add attachments, etc...
This is why I have worked hard on ensuring that each action type, can be customised in many different ways to suit the user's needs. Thus reducing the need to manually perform a particular task.
Hi Daniel, this app looks very well-made, judging from screenshots! big fane of the automation, since I'm generally a lazy π I'm curious if 'Action' would be useful for someone who is already using workflow? how does 'Action' is different from workflow? β Anything in the top of what workflow already offers? like any special features? and slick Hey Daniel, this looks very well-made and slick app, judjding from screenshots! big fan of automation since I'm generally a lazy person π
I was curious if 'Action' would be useful for someone who is already using workflow? how exactly is it different from workflow? Anything in the top of what workflow already offers? like any unique features or individual action that workflow doesn't offer? π€
@shahinix Hi Shahin. The Actions iOS app offers an all-in-one solution to task automation. Instead of having to switch between lots of different apps, the Actions app does everything for you. Workflow generally relies on sending you to another app to get a particular task done. I am also working on 3rd part hardware support, so in future app updates you will be able to connect/automate other tech gadgets around your home/car/etc.. for example you will be able to change colour of your LED lights.
Hi guys, looks very good. how is it better than "workflow"?
And does it support profiles? like: click a button and have the app open location services and also change auto lock.
@danisito Hi Dani. That is superb idea, but due to Apple's iOS Developer restrictions, certain things such as auto lock can't be accessed via third party apps. I will look into this idea further, as I believe that there are somethings I can automate, in regards to the Settings iOS app.
The Actions iOS app allows you to automate monotonous tasks, by enabling you to create one tap actions that perform the task for you, in an all-in-one app solution.
More often than not, we have to perform a task on our iOS device(s), that involves some kind of repetition. Whether it be sending a template message (βCan you pick me up at 2pm?β), making a phone call or viewing the local weather report. Either way this can be a tedious and time consuming process β one which can easily be avoided!
Thats were the Actions app can help, by enabling you to create and customise one tap actions for your everyday needs. Create an action to view the news, send a text message, find the nearest restaurant and much more, all in one app.
@supertecnoboff Looks pretty interesting! Especially seeing as people love shortcuts to tasks!
What do you think are the most common use-cases here?
What were the tasks you found you were doing a lot which made you make this?
@bentossell@supertecnoboff I really love the part to organize under the notification center and I'm also interested to know the use case. What makes it so special that users are willing to pay $2 for it?
@bentossell Hi Ben. So far I have found that the most common use case, is sending group template based messages (such as emails, texts, tweets, etc...).
Daniel I really like the app!! For me personally, I have been looking for something like this that can help be keep track and resolve those tasks that appear randomly throughout the day.
1 piece of feedback I would give though is the discoverability within the app store when I go to download the app. I had to search for 'Actions - Fast forward everyday tasks' in order to find it.
Is there anything within the roadmap to improve this?
@anthony_stylianou Hi Anthony. Thats a very good point, I am looking into improving the branding of the app. This will be addressed in the upcoming app update :) If you have any suggestions, let me know.
