This supports so many model types! Awesome!!
tadwook
@emablekos Thanks E.J .. we focused on lots of common export formats so users could import scans into apps like Sketchup, blender, maya, etc.

We tried to make a simple 3d scanning app to explore the new LIDAR sensor on the iPad Pro. Give it a shot and let us know what you think. Feel free to send us feedback! The app is free for now since we're still in beta.

@tadwook I presume this will work on the new iPhone Pro with LIDAR, too?
Patrick Joubert
Promising! :)

Will give this a try, looks exciting ! Currently use Trnio. Love to see more apps show up in this space.

Very exiting product, dont have checked on my iPhone yet. But the concept of captura an scene using a Lidar camera is great. And very useful for example on the platform we launch trainingset, where you can annotate those lidar scenes to feed AI models.
tadwook
@estebansalsano Thanks Esteban, ya that's a good idea. We could certainly leverage more ML in the app.

Ok
Lucie Loubet
This is crazy impressive. How are you planning on creating a Shopify app out of it?
tadwook
@lucie_l Interesting idea, I will look into Shopify apps, thanks!
Damion Parsons
This is great for the 3D printing community. Does it work well with scanning small objects?
tadwook
@damionp Unfortunately the sensor resolution is not good enough for small objects. Hopefully the iPhone 12 increases that
Churnapp
@damionp @tadwook As there are no specs on Apple's site for either the iPad or iPhone12's LIDAR scanners, is there any way to tell if the 12's scanner has been improved?
Air Measure
this update is especially exciting as its even simpler to quickly capture an object in 3D and bring it into the 3D tool or environment of your choice - from tools and sites like sketchfab / sketchup or into VR and AR
Mark A Kauffman
This is awesome. None of the examples in the video show a full 360-degree walk around to capture the entire object. Is this possible?
tadwook
@markakauffman1 Yes 360 is possible.. you can see some examples in the videos like the truck. Currently ARKit has some tracking issues for longer / full 360 rotation scans, but we're hoping to improve that

wow... good idea))

Ah crazy, I think I dreamt about something like this!!!
Ivo Gregurec
I't looks impressive when it comes to scanning a big spaces but I was not able to scan a mushroom or a lock sized objects as it is shown in the app store. What am I missing?
