Sync Kindle highlights, reflect daily, explore insights, and enjoy AI tools for summaries and definitions. Manage goals, quick book summaries, and export highlights. Elevate your Kindle reading with 2Read!
When I launched my first app, Highlights, I quickly realized it wasn’t working. Five months into offering traditional subscriptions, it became clear that readers wanted more. They needed something smarter, something that fit their needs better.
Highlights was, at its core, a simpler version of what 2Read is today. It lacked the AI features and refinements that make 2Read unique. After it failed, I knew I couldn’t just add AI and call it a day. I needed to rethink everything—how it worked, how it looked, and how readers interacted with it.
One thing was certain: subscriptions weren’t the answer. I had to find a new approach and a better user experience, something flexible and engaging. That’s when I started to think about apps that people keep coming back to, not because they have to, but because they want to.
The result was the AI Credit System. Instead of locking readers into a recurring plan, I decided to let them pay as they go. Need help with a challenging passage? Use a credit. Want a summary or analysis? Spend another. It’s straightforward, giving readers control over how and when they use the app’s AI-powered features.
To make it even better, I kept the core features free for life. My goal was to enhance the reading experience without creating barriers—making it more interactive, more intuitive, and ultimately more enjoyable.
If you’re a Kindle reader with a library of highlights waiting for attention, 2Read might be exactly what you’ve been looking for. Alternatively, if you are not a Kindle user, the app provides comprehensive summaries of up to 85 non-fiction books in both text and audio formats, all of which are free of charge. To get you started, we’re offering 5 free AI credits to explore the app and see how it can transform your reading experience.
It’s a simple idea, but one that could make a big difference.
@nachodeh I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The syncing process can take anywhere from two to four minutes, depending on the number of books in your Kindle account. It takes approximately 12 seconds per book, so please be patient and retry. Kindly inform me of the outcome.
Hi @1truejishnu, I like your app! .... but there are somethings I'd change on the site design. I recorded a video for you, and you can check it out here: https://dev.align.io/projects/9d...
I hope it helps!
@tylerw I have reviewed the video. Thank you for the feedback; it was truly beneficial to me, as I am not a professional designer. Not only will I implement the suggested minor modifications to the landing page, but I will also retain the design elements you mentioned for my future projects.
As an avid Kindle user, this is the tool I've been waiting for! The combination of highlight syncing, AI-powered summaries, and daily reflection prompts is exactly what's needed to get more value from our reading. Really like that it's not just passive storage of highlights but actively helps with comprehension and retention. The free tier is a great way to let users try it out. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves - any plans to add social features for book discussions?
@xi_z Thanks for the support Xi.z!! I’m not sure about plans to add social features for book discussions because there are pre-established platforms for the book discussions, and also I personally think book discussions are better when done offline, but if users want it, then I’ll go for it. What I have in mind is to make it a social app like Instagram so people can follow other people and see their books and highlights. Imagine seeing Kindle highlights of Elon Musk or Sam Altman 😂
Very interesting! Do you think there could be a Readwise integration? Readwise is a spaced-repetition app that allows you to go through your highlights. It offers a simple-to-use RESTful API. I think this would streamline the whole experience and create a great distraction-free system for reading and reviewing.
Once again, amazing work @Jishnu! Excited to try the application
@jishnu@revxrsal Thank you for your support of 2Read. The integration of Readwise is contingent upon user feedback. My goal is to develop a superior and cost-effective platform compared to Readwise.
Well done on the send off! I frequently use Arouse to understand books, yet at times I battle to get a handle on the more profound significance of specific texts completely. I'm interested about could it at any point assist with investigating the bits of knowledge and more profound implications behind each features, or it restricted to explicit sections and selective jargon?
@sajid_imran@sajid_imran The intelligent dictionary offers comprehensive definitions and contextual explanations tailored to the book and author’s perspective. Additionally, AI-driven insight features simplify explanations, provide context based on the book, and offer examples. AI summaries can be generated based on specific instructions or a general holistic summary based on the book’s highlights. All AI features are fully functional for every book and every highlight.
Read sounds like a fantastic tool for anyone looking to get more out of their Kindle reading! Syncing highlights, reflecting daily, and exploring insights are such great features for deeper engagement. The AI-powered summaries and definitions will be a huge time-saver, and the ability to manage goals and export highlights is a bonus. I can see this being an essential tool for avid readers and anyone looking to maximize their Kindle experience!

Congrats on the launch! I often use Kindle to read books, but sometimes I struggle to fully grasp the deeper meaning of certain texts. I'm curious about can it help explore the insights and deeper meanings behind each highlights, or it limited to specific passages and exclusive vocabulary?
@feliciana_liu The AI’s capabilities extend beyond specific passages and exclusive vocabulary. It can assist in exploring insights, uncovering deeper meanings, and providing definitions for every highlight.
My 2¢: Integrate with Google LLM Notebook. It's a game changer for users that want the benefits of book highlights. Congratulations on the launch @1truejishnu . Onwards and upwards!
@siddharthpereiras Thanks for the support Siddharth!! I will add the idea of integrating with Google LLM to my checklist. I appreciate your suggestion.
