With remote work becoming the norm, tools for online collaboration are evolving rapidly. We built Blackboard, a real-time drawing tool for Google Meet and browser-based freehand drawing, to make collaboration faster and smoother. What’s one feature you’d love to see in such tools?

Live document collaboration with a history log would keep things organized and transparent.

Asynchronous collaboration tools like Figma are game-changing, allowing real-time design collaboration from anywhere. I could see the 'Figma for X' model being the next evolution in many domains - e.g. collaborative 3D modeling, video editing, data analysis, etc. Basically making complex creative workflows effortlessly collaborative.

The biggest problem with remote interaction right now is the abundance of rituals. We must schedule a meeting in the calendar, open an app or tab, check the camera and microphone, upload and download images, and turn on screen sharing. Meanwhile, when we’re in the same room, we can ask a question and get an answer in seconds. This is partly due to privacy policies and partly due to technological imperfections. I believe that in the future, we will achieve seamless, permanent online interaction with simple switching between team and private modes, integrated file-sharing solutions, and so on. Companies currently developing collaboration products and tools should move in this direction.
