Do you want to know the difference between CPU and GPU?

12
Yesterday a question popped into my mind after reading about the new Nvidia Digit supercomputer (which will retail at $3,000) and RTX 5090 GPU (which will cost $2,000), which was "Why do CPUs exist, if GPUs are so good?" or something like that. For non-professionals this is an interesting question, who are using gaming laptops/PCs in their daily lives for content creation and such. Nvidia Digits + Cursor = Fast local models for coding.

@shahza1bmushtaq Not as expensive as spending 50$ a day on O1 😅 like I am now. I will recoup in 60days

@shahza1bmushtaq Hopefully I will get one on launch. The cursor team will need to add support as well I suppose. 1k TFlops 🤤

I've always thought about this too, why not just use GPUs for everything?

I've wondered about this too, especially after seeing the specs of the RTX 5090.

CPUs are the brains of the computer, managing operations that GPUs can't handle on their own.
