Meowdy Makers! I recently launched Have I Been Known? on PH, you can call it HIBK for short. HIBK allows you to check if you have a bitcoin address that is likely known to surveillance. The project is open source, doesn't have a business model, and there's no creepy tracking. In fact, API requests, responses, and the privacy analysis all take place locally in the browser. Despite there being no database (static site hosted on Github Pages) and every effort to make the experience pro-privacy (including recommending the use of a VPN), I've read alot of discussion in online forums about whether HIBK is actually a surveillance tool itself (lol). I understand that less technical bitcoiners will not have the skills to inspect the source code, monitor the console during queries with the test bitcoin addresses provided, or even take the time to read the FAQ... So what I would like in terms of feedback: What subtle ways could I improve on transparency, so those unfamiliar with my work, and the open source code powering it, understand that they don't even need to trust me, or my tool, because everything stated is openly verifiable. I'll be putting in many hours in the coming weeks and months to create lots of beginner level content to help promote privacy for bitcoin and educate those using it. Cheers!!
